Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care
University of Colorado
Dr. Benjamin K. Scott, MD has extensive experience in telemedicine, tele-critical care, and critical care medicine. He is co-director of the University of Colorado Hospital Surgical-Trauma ICU, and Medical Director of Clinical Informatics for the Department of Anesthesiology. He founded the University of Colorado Health System's Virtual ICU, co-founded the UC Health Virtual Sepsis Response Program, and served as Associate Medical Director for Virtual Health. In 2018 he was appointed to a Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) task force on the application of telemedicine to disasters which led to an integral role in designing what would become the National Emergency Tele-critical Care Network (NETCCN), a joint project between the Army's TATRC, SCCM, and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response. He helped design the simulation and testing protocols used for NETCCN during the competitive development phase and served as a subject matter expert guiding NETCCN deployments. As an active member and past Chair of SCCM's Tele-critical Committee, Dr. Scott founded the multi-institutional Tele-critical Care Collaborative Network to bring together national stakeholders and leaders in TCC and has represented SCCM in national conversations on tele-critical care and disaster medicine. The Collaborative Network is poised to publish its first set of expert consensus recommendations for best practices in tele critical care.
