Many institutions rapidly adopted and implemented telecritical care (TCC) services during the COVID-19 pandemic. There was not enough time to train staff, and non-ICU staff were often recruited to work in makeshift ICUs after a crash course. With the end of the pandemic, a hybrid model of care has emerged that involves both TCC and the bedside team. This is part 1 of an interactive session designed to provide insight into rational use of TCC services, keeping patient safety in mind, using data collection and analytics to improve quality of care, and enhancing communication skills between bedside and remote teams.
