Dr. Ira Cheifetz is the Chief of Cardiology and Cardiac Critical Care and the Associate Chief Quality Officer for Patient Safety at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and The Congenital Heart Collaborative. Academically, he holds the position of KeyBank-Meyer Family Chair and Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Cheifetz completed his residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Duke Children’s and received his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Cheifetz is an international expert in the fields of congenital and acquired heart disease, extracorporeal life support, pediatric mechanical ventilation, and pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome. He has lectured on these topics and others at national and international scientific conferences for more than 25 years. Dr. Cheifetz is an active clinical and translational NIH-funded researcher, who has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and chapters, most of which have been in the fields of pediatric cardiac critical care, critical care, and respiratory care.
