Amita Avadhani is a Professor of Instruction and Nursing Department Chairperson at Temple University College of Public Health. She has a diverse international critical care experience of over 35 years in India, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and the United States. Her efforts as NP and NP educator have been recognized nationally through her fellowship in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) and the American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM). She holds certifications as a Nurse Executive-Advanced (NEA-BC), Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), an Acute Care NP (ACNP-BC), an Adult Primary Care NP (NP-C), a Diplomate of Comprehensive Care (DCC) as well as a Critical Care RN (CCRN). She currently serves as the American Association of Nurse Practitioners’ Region-2 Director, SIGMA Region 14 Coordinator, and NJ Consortium Coordinator. Some of her past leadership positions include Vice President of the New Jersey State Nurses Association, President of NJ-Forum of Nurses in Advance Practice, and SIGMA Honor Society of Nursing Alpha Tau President. She also serves on many national committees. She has been a member of SCCM for 16 years and has served on many committees including the Social Media Committee, Item Development Editorial Board, and most recently as the Chairperson of the Advance Practice Professional Development Committee of the nursing section. She has mentored countless NP students, DNP students, and novice NPs. Her work as a clinician and Nurse Educator has been recognized through her many awards including the AANP State Award of Excellence as an NP advocate-2021, the New Jersey Diva Award 2022, and the New Jersey Biz Healthcare Heroes Award in the Educator category.
