Qun Wu M.D., Ph.D., is a project officer in the Influenza and Emerging Infectious Diseases Division (IEIDD) Therapeutics Branch at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). Her primary role is developing and sustaining partnerships with industry and other U.S. federal government departments and agencies for ARDS, influenza, and COVID-19 therapeutics programs.
Dr. Wu received a Doctor of Medicine equivalent degree in Clinical Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pathogenic Biology from Wuhan University School of Medicine, China. Before joining BARDA, she was an assistant professor in the pulmonary division at National Jewish Health and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Her research focused on understanding the role of respiratory viral infections (e.g., rhinovirus and influenza virus), smoking (e.g., tobacco and e-cigarette), and aging in the pathogenesis of chronic lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, and IPF. Her work offered several novel therapeutic strategies to restore airway epithelial functions for treating acute exacerbations of these chronic lung diseases.
Dr. Wu has published over 34 peer-reviewed scientific articles in prestigious journals and book chapters. She also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for scientific journals and proposal applications.
