Kimberly Sciarretta, PhD is the Branch Chief of the Division of Research Innovation and Venture (DRIVe's) Launch Office, within the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Launch Office leads the Host-directed Therapeutics, Host-based Diagnostics and Decentralized Cinical Operations for Healthcare and Research (D-COHRe) programs. Dr. Sciarretta has been with BARDA since 2015, and was one of inaugural members of DRIVe, influencing the vision and growth of the Division. Prior to BARDA, Dr. Sciarretta had extensive experience within the Department of Defense and other US Government Agencies as a technical consultant, focusing on biological and chemical defense as well as leading innovation. Dr. Sciarretta strives towards building and piloting new strategic approaches to support agile preparedness for public health emergencies and to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Sciarretta received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology.
