Kerry Shields MSN, MBE, CRNP, CPNP-AC
Kerry Shields received her BSN from Boston College and her MSN and MBE from the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked as a pediatric critical care nurse practitioner in Dallas, Texas, and Durham, North Carolina. She is currently working as a pediatric critical care nurse practitioner in the PICU and PCU at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is the Associate Program Director for the University of Pennsylvania Pediatric Acute Care Program for the Critical Care Concentration. She is a recipient of The Deans Award for Teaching Excellence and The Graduate Award for Teaching: Outstanding Nurse Educator. Her clinical and professional interests include ethics, communication and decision-making in pediatrics, and advanced practice nursing education. Her recent publications include Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C): A Review published in the American Journal of Nursing in May 2021 and Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C) in Children in the Critical Care Setting published in Critical Care Nurse in October 2021. She has presented on the topic of MIS-C for SCCM Pediatric APP Subcommittee, DelVal NAPNAP Chapter, Current Concepts in Pediatric Advanced Practice Conference, and The Children’s Hospital Association/Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes (IPSO) webcast. She speaks regularly in nursing and advanced practice nursing education forums. Kerry is the current chair of the SCCM Pediatric APP subcommittee.
