Dr. Deepa Bangalore Gotur graduated from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute in India in the year 2000. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Richmond University Medical Center in New York and Critical Care Medicine fellowship training at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York.
She joined Houston Methodist Hospital in 2008 with affiliation as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and was promoted to Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in 2020. She also has an affiliation as Adjunct Associate Professor in Texas A&M University. She is the Program Director for Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Houston Methodist Academic Institute.
Dr. Gotur is active in national societies of the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. She serves as a member and vice-chair in multiple national committees. Regionally, she completed her term to the board of directors for the Society of Critical Care Medicine Texas Chapter in 2019-2022.
Dr. Gotur has received multiple awards, such as the prestigious GlaxoSmithKline Distinguished Scholar in Respiratory Health Award from Chest Foundation in 2020 and the Sherilyn A. Gordon Memorial Award for Distinguished Leadership and Professionalism in Medical Education. She also serves on the editorial board of the CHEST journal.
Dr. Gotur is very active in research and serves as the principal investigator on multiple clinical trials and translational research in sepsis and ARDS.
