Mark T. Foster, MD, MS, Assistant Professor, University of Texas Health - San Antonio
Dr. Foster has been a faculty physician at UT Health San Antonio since 2019 after he completed his Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. Initially completing his training in Emergency Medicine, he then undertook a Clinical Ultrasound Fellowship prior to Critical Care. He works within the Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Critical Care as well as providing coverage for the ECMO service which has begun implementing ECPR within the University Health System. His work with the ECMO service allowed UHS to achieve a Regional Comprehensive Resuscitation Center Designation.
Additionally, he serves as the Fellowship Program Director for the Emergency Medicine clinical ultrasound fellowship. He is involved with ultrasound education from local to national courses including those with the Society of Critical Care Medicine. His work with Point-of-Care Ultrasound allowed him to be awarded grant funding from the American Heart Association to study the effects of COVID on cardiac function. Within University Hospital he serves as chair of the Critical Care / EM Pharmacy and Therapeutics subcommittee and is involved with the Heart and Vascular Institute Shock Response Committee.
