Is It Still Safe to Mobilize Older Adults in the ICU?

Early mobility has garnered much enthusiasm despite conflicting data related to short-term outcomes. Moreover, recent studies have highlighted potential harms associated with this practice. Nevertheless, the long-term effects of early mobility on long-term physical and cognitive functioning suggests the benefits may be worth any potential risks. This talk will review the state of early mobility in light of recent trials, focusing on the impact on older critically ill adults.
