Hemorrhagic control and a well organized resuscitation is critical to optimal outcomes for pediatric patients in hemorrhagic shock. This lecture will detail the current strategies for a hemostatic resuscitation to include utilization of component products (red blood cells, plasma, and platelets), utilization of whole blood. The most current literature evaluating these two resuscitation strategies will be reviewed. In addition, the current recommendations for the incorporation of tranexamic acid into the resuscitation of these patients will be reviewed.
