Recent prospective trials have better defined the current epidemiology and outcomes of pediatric patients in hemorrhagic shock. This lecture will discuss the evolution of the epidemiology of this important problem in pediatric trauma and recent studies evaluating the best described outcomes in these populations. In addition, a brief discussion of some future research priorities that may influence this topic may be discussed.
