Phenotyping/endotyping sepsis is an ongoing endeavor, but an important one in sepsis as it is very clear that a “one size fits all” or “silver bullet” approach to severe infection will not work in these patients. Several endotypes have been suggested, and continue to be delineated in literature as newer data becomes available. Identifying which patients are in a specific phase post sepsis, as well as the pathology specific to these cohorts, will allow the “right care, right now™” approach to be taken in these individuals for optimal outcomes. Speaker: Dr. Scott Brakenridge, UW Medicine. Dr. Brakenridge studies phenotyping in surgical patients to predict patients who are vulnerable to bacterial sepsis. He is NIH funded, and will present an overview of immunophenotyping of septic patients and targeted therapeutics to these individuals.
