The policies and procedures used in clinical care vary widely in pediatric ECMO, thus obtaining equipoise to study a clinical intervention in ECMO patients can be challenging. This is further complicated by the scope of collaboration required across neonatal and pediatric ages, as well as the interprofessional engagement required from general and cardiac subspecialists. Dr. Sleeper is an established clinical trialist, and PI of the Department of Defence-funded TITRE trial, and the NHLBI-funded pilot FAST trial.
