This session will provide context and guidance regarding the updated guidelines for determination of brain death (BD)/death by neurologic criteria (DNC) in adults and pediatrics. Speakers will address the collaborative efforts for guideline development, updates on prerequisites for BD/DNC determination, examiner qualifications, the examination process including apnea testing and special considerations, and the role of ancillary testing.
