One challenge in management of status epilepticus is lack of evidence to support what agent(s) to use after first-line therapy (i.e. BZD) fails. While challenging, this encourages clinicians to focus on patient specific and drug specific factors to choose the most appropriate agent. This session will discuss current evidence on the use of these newer AEDs, as well as important drug-drug interactions or specific contraindications.Finally, this session will provide considerations on how and when to incorporate these agents in the management of status epilepticus.
