(337) Metabolic Gene Expression Changes in Cardiogenic Shock: A Comprehensive Analysis

Introduction: Cardiogenic shock (CS) results from cardiac events causing impaired cardiac function and multi-organ dysfunction. However, the metabolic changes in CS are not well understood.

Methods: We analyzed data from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus database, focusing on a study titled "Whole blood transcriptome analysis of Septic shock and Cardiogenic shock patients over one week of ICU stay." We used the "Analyze with GEO2R" feature to identify the top 250 differentially expressed genes between cardiogenic shock and septic shock at each time point.

Results: We found significant differences in gene expression between CS and SS patients at the initial time point (T1), 16 hours after ICU admission. Genes related to metabolism, including phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (PGD), sestrin 2 (SESN2), interleukin 10 (IL10), and 6-phosphofructo-2 kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase 2 (PFKFB2), were particularly noteworthy.

Conclusions: Our analysis revealed significant changes in genes related to metabolism in cardiogenic shock patients. Further research with healthy control groups and longer monitoring periods will provide deeper insights into metabolic changes during cardiogenic shock, aiding personalized treatment approaches.
