Dr. Mary Hartman is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, and is an attending physician in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Since 2017, Dr. Hartman has been the Medical Director of the PICU's Neurocritical Care Follow-up Program, which seeks to improve the psychological and neurocognitive outcomes after critical illness in childhood, and assist PICU survivors and their families in the complex process of returning home and back to school after hospital discharge. Her research areas of interest have been in both the epidemiology of and long-term outcomes of children with critical illness, and also the design and delivery of intensive care services in the United States.
