Amanda Nickel MSc, RRT-NPS, RRT-ACCS is the Research Clinical Expert in the Respiratory Therapy Department at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Amanda leads clinical and bench research and is published in the peer-reviewed literature. She has authored original manuscripts, a book chapter, editorial, and numerous abstracts presented at national meetings for the American Association for Respiratory Care, American Thoracic Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Resuscitation Science Symposium. Amanda's research interests include high frequency percussive ventilation, improving the patient-ventilator relationship through the study of intrinsic PEEP, identifying strategies to remediate asynchrony, and the development of new devices to meet clinical needs that are at the forefront of neonatal pediatric intensive care. Amanda recently completed her appointment as Editorial Intern for RESPIRATORY CARE, and continues to serve the journal as an Editorial Board Member. She volunteers as Chair of the Pennsylvania Respiratory Research Collaborative to coordinate initiatives in research and quality improvement projects throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Amanda has received numerous awards, recognitions, and honors over her tenure as a respiratory therapist, and is dedicated to leading and advancing the profession through her ongoing work at a national level.
