Intensivist
Saint Luke's Hospital
Kansas CIty, MO
Dr. Freiberger graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, now A.T. Still University, in 2002. She found that the philosophy of Mind Body Spirit fit her personality and the hands-on experience complemented her tactile talents from being an artist. She loved the challenge of adult medicine and the joy of pediatrics, graduating a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics from The University of Missouri Kansas City, Children’s Mercy Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City. She completed her Critical Care Fellowship there, having developed a passion for organ donation and transplant. She was offered a position at her parent hospital, helping to staff a newly developed Cardiovascular ICU, caring for patients undergoing heart transplants and LVADS, CABG and valves, VA and VV ECMO. The work was hard but rewarding. The 2013 H1N1 season started and their VV ECMO program rapidly grew, with intensivists performing the venous cannulation for ECMO. The department expanded, with that the challenges and rewards of growing the Neurosurgical ICU, along with Medical ICU and Cardiac ICU at night. She loves critical care and the multifaceted ways we get to care for people and their families. Teaching medical students, residents and fellows wounds out the experience. She is honored and grateful to have found her calling.
