Daniel W. Johnson, MD, FCCM is a Professor and Division Chief of Critical Care in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). He completed undergraduate studies at Boston College, followed by medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Johnson completed an Anesthesiology residency and a Critcal Care fellowship at the Masschusetts General Hospital, where he remained on faculty through 2012. He joined the UNMC faculty in 2013. He serves UNMC as the Medical Director of the Cardiovascular ICU and the Associate Medical Director of the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit. He served SCCM as Chair of the Adult Ultrasound Committee, and Course Director for the Ultrasound Courses at Congress and in Chicago during the summer. His research consists of large, multi-center, randomized controlled trials investigating the efficacy and safety of medications for critically ill patients.
