Over the last 30 years, Robert C Tasker MD, FRCP, has learned the trade of editorship in the Archives of Disease in Childhood (BMJ), Intensive Care Medicine, Critical Care, and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) stable of journals. In 2020, Robert was appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of PCCM, and January 2021 saw the publication of his first issue of PCCM. As a clinical academic, Robert works on both sides of the Atlantic: Boston Children’s Hospital, where he is the Founding Chair of Pediatric Neurocritical Care, Senior Associate Staff Physician and Professor in Anaesthesia (Pediatrics); and, Selwyn College, Cambridge, where he is Fellow and College Lecturer in Clinical Medicine and Tutor to 50 graduate students studying for MA/MSc and PhD degrees. His work portfolio includes: teaching at all stages, from physiology courses to undergraduates through to lectures on specialist neurocritical care practice to higher-professional trainees, fellows and practitioners; writing and editing text books, articles and papers; researching computational physiology and homeostasis models as applied to critical care; clinical trials administration, as Chair of Trial Steering committees in pediatric critical care RCTs; and, as Chair and member of committees for updates in the professional code of practice for 'Death by Neurological Criteria'.
