Dr. Nikravan trained in Anesthesiology at Washington University in Saint Louis, serving as Chief in her final year. She completed her Critical Care Medicine and Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology fellowship training at Stanford University, where she subsequently served as faculty. While at Stanford, she directed the Critical Care Ultrasound (CCUS) training program, helping to build both online, simulation, and bedside training curriculum.
She is currently the Vice Chair of Education and the Director of Point of Care Ultrasound in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Washington.
Dr. Nikravan is the past president and chairperson for the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) ultrasound committee and Critical Care Ultrasound (CCUS) course. She is one of three editors for the Critical Care Ultrasound textbook 2nd edition, and she is past chairperson for the SCCM CCUS Board Review course. She is currently serving as co-director for the SCCM Adult Critical Care Ultrasound Guidelines Update. She is actively involved in education initiatives nationally through the National Board of Echocardiography and the American Society of Echocardiography with a long history as faculty in CME nationally and internationally through the SCCM, ATS, ASE, IARS, SOCCA, SCA echo week, ASRA, and SOAP. In collaboraiton with colleagues locally, nationally, and internationally, she has helped to created the UW Global POCUS Collaberative (@GlobalPOCUSCollaborative: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmfdJFhrlsicG1VrsLeQMRw) , a four year case based curriculum in POCUS that engages partners in underserved areas around the world. She has hand a number of publications related to CT Anesthesiology, CCM, and POCUS and has been recognied as teacher of the year in years past.
