D. Clark Files is a pulmonary and critical care trained physician-scientist with a focus on severe pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and Sepsis. His translational research focuses on skeletal muscle wasting in critically ill patients. He directs an acute and critical care clinical trials program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and co-directs the Southeast Clinical Center for the Prevention and Early Treatment of Lung Injury (PETAL) Network. His group participated in many COVID-19 treatment trials, including the ACTIV3, ACTIV Host Tissue and ISPY COVID programs.
