James Ross, MD, is a trauma surgeon and a researcher at the Case Western Reserve University - University Hospitals Blood, Heart, Lung, and Immunology Research Center. Dr. Ross’s research aims to understand the mechanisms of systemic inflammation and organ injury in trauma and sepsis. His current projects focus on the role of hemolysis and free hemoglobin in the pathophysiology of endothelial and immune dysfunction in trauma. Dr. Ross did his undergraduate and masters degree in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford and his medical school training at the University of Colorado. He completed his general surgery training and a T32 fellowship at the University of California San Francisco, and clinical fellowships in Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery at the University of California Davis.
