Dr. Tessie October is a medical officer within the trauma and critical illness branch of NICHD at the National Institutes of Health. She continues clinical work as a pediatric critical care physician at Children's National. Dr. October is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric critical care medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. Her research interests center around family-physician communication and decision-making during serious illness. Dr. October is a staunch supporter of gender equity in the workplace and has written mulitple pieces on leadership in academic medicine.
