Dr. Jennie Matays is a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist at Kaiser Permanente in South Sacramento, California, where she has served in this role since January 2020. She is also the President of the California Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists. She has nearly 17 years of nursing experience, practicing in critical care, stepdown, and oncology emergency departments. She frequently precepts CNS students and was recognized by NACNS as Preceptor of the Year in 2022. She has several publications and has presented on a variety of topics both locally and nationally. Additionally, she has also served on the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists Nominations Committee and the Taskforce revising the Statement on CNS Practice and Education. Dr. Matays earned her BSN from California State University, Sacramento, an MS in the Critical Care/Trauma CNS program from the University of California, San Francisco, and her DNP from the University of Pittsburgh. She has a passion for evidence-based practice and empowering nurses to leverage these skills to improve patient outcomes.
