Tuqa Alkhateeb, PharmD, MS, PhD is currently a pharmacist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. In June 2022, she completed the inaugural critical care pharmacy fellowship working with the Vanderbilt Critical Illness, Brain Dysfunction, and Survivorship (CIBS) Center and Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. In addition to her ICU clinical research activities at Vanderbilt, she also held teaching activities with Lipscomb's College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, and School of Physician-Assistant Studies. In June 2020, Dr. Alkhateeb completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in immunology, after studying long-term sepsis immunosuppression. Her research interests include sepsis immunology/immunosuppression, sedatives' effect on inflammation in critical illness such as sepsis, managing and preventing delirium, and long-term ICU outcomes.
Dr. Alkhateeb was recently elected to the 2023 SCCM Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She was also recently awarded the 2022 SCCM Presidential Citation Award and the 2020 SCCM Star Research Achievement Award. She is active in the Membership Committee of the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology (CPP) section in SCCM where she is a senior charge lead for increasing SCCM/CPP international and national membership along with improving diversity, equity, and inclusion.
