Wenbo Zhang is a PhD candidate in the Department of Epidemiology at the University Medical Center Groningen. Currently, he is immersed in clinical and genetic epidemiology research, specifically focusing on applying machine learning methods to construct predictive models.
One of these predictive models utilizes variables easily collected in intensive care units to predict short-term patient deterioration. Simultaneously, he is conducting a genome-wide and phenome-wide association study on a specific infection biomarker. In his future work, Wenbo aims to employ machine learning methods to tightly integrate clinical and genetic data, enhancing patient prognostication.
As a young researcher, he aspires to contribute valuable insights to the field, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and revolutionizing critical care practices.
