Adam Betz, MD is the medical director of cardiovascular critical care and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation at the Oklahoma Heart Institute (OHI), in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The critical care group at OHI comprises three physicians and eight nurse practitioners, provides remote ECMO cannulation and transport in its four-state region, supports 60-80 ECMO/yr as well as most other modes of temporary and durable mechanical support. He attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma and trained in general anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky where he continued for fellowship in critical care medicine. Dr. Betz's professional interests include APP development and understanding and developing ICU practice models that allow for higher level care than is typical of more regional communities. Outside of medicine, Dr. Betz is married with three children, is an avid cellist, and serves on the board of directors for the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.
