Ryan Hurtado, M.D., Ph.D., is a third year Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellow at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL. He is particularly interested in understanding the physiological mechanisms underlying the different phenotypes of Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome in children and how to identify them earlier. He is board certified in pediatrics after completing his pediatric residency at Lurie Children’s Hospital. He holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.D. from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biosciences from Northwestern University. Prior to medicine he taught undergraduate science courses to pre-med, pre-nursing, pre-veterinarian at Northwestern’s School of Continuing studies and Oakton Community College. He lives in the Chicago area with his wife Sara and their three boys where they like to go hiking, biking and kayaking.
