Dr. Hasini Ediriweera is a critical care fellow in the last year of her fellowship at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. After first achieving an undergraduate degree in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University, Dr. Ediriweera went on to pursue post-graduate training, earning a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from New York University and an MD from the University of Miami. At the University of Miami, she also completed her combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency and went on to become the first trainee at the institution to create and implement a combined pediatric and adult critical care fellowship. She is a strong patient advocate and has interests in global health and teaching. During her training, Dr. Ediriweera has also been involved in basic science research with interests in cardiovascular disease, inflammation, and macrophage metabolism. She plans to pursue a physician-scientist career track and aspires to be able to perform true bench to bedside research and clinical practice.
