August Longino, MD, MPH is in the 3rd year of his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Colorado. He completed his undergraduate studies at Tufts University before working in the field of global health in Ecuador's Amazon Basin for three years before completing his MD, MPH at the Univeristy of Washington in Seattle. There he developed a keen interest in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and has pursued a variety of research interests during his time in residency, including sepsis and resuscitation research as well as pulmonary hypertension and resource utilization around diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary emboli. He is currently on a research year, being funded by an NIH R38 "StARR" Grant through the University of Colorado. He is particularly grateful to his senior mentors: Dr. Ivor Douglas; Dr. Joe Hippensteel; Dr. Todd Bull, and Dr. Peter Hountras, among many others.
