Boston Children's Hospital
Nawara Alawa, MD MPH is a third year and chief critical care fellow at Boston Children's Hospital. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies and Immunology from the University of Miami in 2013. Subsequently, she moved to Washington, DC to work in health care policy at The Brookings Institution where she created content about the American health care system for the Khan Academy and authored case studies of physician led innovations around the country that reduced the cost of care and improved outcomes for patients. Her experience solidified her interest in medicine and she completed a MD/MPH program at the University of Miami before moving to Houston, TX to complete pediatrics residency at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital. During her time in residency and critical care fellowship, she has fostered her interests in systems engineering and clinical operations with a focus on big data driven decision making to support operations and workflows and human factors engineering as a critical component of efficiency and success in care delivery models. She is currently completing a Masters of Clinical Service Operations at the Harvard Medical School while finishing her critical care fellowship.
