Dr. Akande is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and a clinician-scientist in pediatric critical care at the Oklahoma University Health Services Center. Dr. Akande's research is focused on how social determinants of health impact critical care outcomes for children with chronic conditions. Dr. Akande believes that this research is crucial for promoting health equity and improving the quality of life for children with chronic conditions, their families, and communities. Her work includes evaluating health delivery processes, studying the impact of healthcare access and neighborhood resources on at-risk populations, and assessing the effects of clinical initiatives and national policies on health outcomes. Dr. Akande's ultimate research goal is to implement and share interventions at the hospital, community, and policy levels to reduce health disparities by improving access to cost-effective, timely, and well-coordinated healthcare services for at-risk children with chronic conditions.
