Dr Katie Moynihan, MBBS, FRACP, FCICM is a Cardiac Intensivist at Boston Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr Moynihan undertook pediatric and critical care training in Australia and New Zealand as well as volunteer work in Uganda, Fiji, Samoa and India. After completing a senior fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, she joined as Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) faculty in 2018. She is the appointed Director of Palliative care for the Division of Cardiovascular Critical Care, and a key area of research is palliative care integration in the CICU. Additional research interests focus on social determinants of health and healthcare access and outcomes in pediatric critical illness as well as ethics and decision-making – particularly in relation to life-sustaining devices. She is passionate about improving global health outcomes with an ongoing commitment to quality improvement and teaching in the developing world. And as the Associate Clinical Director for Simulation in the CICU, she is dedicated to fellow education and is exploring different methodologies to enhance communication training.
