Renuka Chepuru, B.S., is an MD Candidate for the class of 2026 at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated cum laude from UCLA in 2017 with a major in Molecular, Cell, Developmental Biology and a minor in the Study of Religion. Before attending medical school, she worked and published research with providers who specialized in Allergy and Immunology, ENT, and Reproductive Health. She has demonstrated a passion for community service including working with foster children and unhoused popluations in Los Angeles.
At Rush Medical College, Renuka has been engaged in surgical research with a specific emphasis on interactive communication skills training for ICU providers as well as ongoing research in the field of vascular surgery. She is interested in surgery, including subspecialities such as Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Trauma Surgery. At Rush Medical College, she has continued her community service engagement and has held leadership positions with Rush Street Medicine, a mobile medical van that provides care to the unhoused populations near the westside of Chicago, and Child Youth Enrichment Program, a volunteer group that regularly visits foster children at the Sylvia Community Center in Chicago.
Outside of her academic interests, Renuka enjoys reading, playing beach volleyball, watching the Dallas Cowboys, traveling to new places, hiking, playing musical instruments, drawing, and cycling.
