Alexis N. Thompson, MD (she/her/hers) is a current third-year Pediatric Critical Care Fellow at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, MD. She received her undergraduate and medical degree at the University of Connecticut. She then completed her Pediatrics residency training and subsequent Chief Year at Brown University/Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, RI. Dr. Thompson's primary research interests during her clinical fellowship have been focused on pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI) and sedation practices within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Her primary research project is investigating the effect of sedation on a rodent model of pediatric TBI. Additionally, she is involved in a secondary project focused on the development of a sedation protocol within the Pediatric Cardiac ICU. She will be pursuing an additional clinical fellowship as a Neuro-Critical Care Fellow at Johns Hopkins to further her research and academic interests.
