Chidinma Star Tiko-Okoye, MD MPH is a current Surgical Critical Fellow at Duke University. She earned her undergraduate degree from Baylor University, graduating from the honors college with a BA in University Scholars. Following which, she spent two years in Thailand engaging in policy and educational work. She then completed a 5-year MD/MPH program at Drexel University College of Medicine, specialising in health care policy and management. During this time, she also continued her international work in sub-saharan Africa and earned a global health certificate. She completed her surgical training at Lankenau Medical Center, where she also spent two years as the first healthcare disparities research fellow, in addition to her translational science research. Her research interests include critical care management strategies, nutritional interventions, and improving access to surgical care and health outcomes in marginalised populations.
