Leslie Mataya, MD is a pediatric intensivist with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. She received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2016, then completed her residency training in Pediatrics at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in 2019. While in residency, Dr. Mataya underwent a clinical ethics fellowship at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. She completed her fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 2022 and subsequently began her faculty career at Lurie Children's Hospital.
Dr. Mataya's academic focus is at the intersection of critical care and transplantation medicine. She studies children with acute on chronic liver failure and how their prioritization on the organ waitlist may impact their outcomes. Her prior work has also centered around the doctor-patient relationship, brain death ethics, and organ donation/transplantation ethics.
