Mary Kovacevic, PharmD, BCCCP, BCPS is currently a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Critical Care at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency and PGY-2 critical care residency at BWH in 2017. Since then, Mary has worked as a clinical pharmacist in various ICU settings and is now the lead Surgical Burn/Trauma ICU pharmacist. She has an active role in clinical practice, education, clinical research, and guideline development/implementation, with a focus pain management in the ICU, management of alcohol withdrawal, and treatment strategies for agitation and delirium in the ICU. She has published on various topics such as the impact of local analgesia and sedation guidelines, sedation practices in critically ill patients, ICU delirium, and more. She is an adjunct faculty member at Northeastern University School of Pharmacy and serves as a primary preceptor for pharmacy students and both PGY-1 and PGY-2 pharmacy residents. Mary also serves on several multidisciplinary committees, including the Drug Safety Committee and Trauma Process Improvement committee, and has also led several BWH quality improvement initiatives related to trauma and critical care.
