Yulia Shtanko is a third-year medical student enrolled at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, both earned from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Her past research examined genomic organization and the impact of translocations on gene expression using the Neurospora crassa fungi model.
Her current research focuses on critical care associated with Nicholas Children’s Hospital, retinoblastoma organoid development associated with the Baskin Palmer Institute and the Miller School of Medicine, and examining cultural appropriateness of an obstetrics school developed in rural Guatemala.
