Dr. Julie Winkle MD, FCCM, FACEP is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She is the Assistant Program Director for the Anesthesia Critical Care fellowship. She serves as Vice-Chancellor on the Board of Regents for the American College of Critical Care Medicine and has served on the Board since 2015. She is also a former Section Chair for the Emergency Medicine Section of SCCM.
Dr. Winkle earned her medical degree from MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine and did emergency medicine residency at Bellevue Hospital/NYU. She completed her critical care fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in 2006. Dr. Winkle was one of the early critical care trained emergency physicians and worked tirelessly to achieve critical care board certification for emergency physicians, which is now available through multiple boards. Over her 15 years of clinical practice, she continues to practice both Emergency Medicine and Surgical Critical Care. She joined the faculty at the University of Colorado in 2019 after spending her early career at Virginia Commonwealth University.
