Laurence Busse, M.D., MBA, FCCM is an Associate Professor of Medicine within the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep Medicine at Emory University. He is boarded in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. Since 2018, Dr. Busse has served as the Medical Director of Critical Care at Emory Johns Creek Hospital and the Site Director of the Emory Critical Care Center (ECCC) for Johns Creek. Prior to his current role at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Dr. Busse was the ECCC Site Director and Medical Director of Critical Care at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Dr. Busse leads the Satellite Trials Group of Emory (STaGE), a multi-site distributed clinical trials platform that brings together investigators from the various Emory locations. Dr. Busse’s research focuses on the role of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) in shock, including the exploration of novel RAAS-related biomarkers and the development of the novel therapeutic agent angiotensin-II for refractory shock. Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Busse has been honored with a number of awards, including the Emory Critical Care Center’s Timothy G. Buchman Award in Transformational Leadership. He is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine.
