Alcohol withdrawal syndrome is a complication of hospitalization and critical care, especially for trauma patients. There is no clear guidance on the role of such disparate therapies as phenobarbital and gabapentin, dexmedetomidine and diazepam. A case-based review of current and emerging treatments for this dynamic problem will be discussed.
