Critically ill children and their families deal with challenging symptoms and face complex decisions, often in the face of significant uncertainty. A growing body of literature describes innovative models for integrating palliative care into general pediatric ICUs and cardiac ICUs and supports the efficacy of primary palliative care delivered by interdisciplinary pediatric ICU professionals.
