Given the altered physiology of pregnancy, the identification of signs of sepsis in the early clinical course and determination of the etiologic agent is paramount for a good clinical outcome for both mother and baby. This session will review tools to help identify the early stages of sepsis in the obstetric patient, identify etiologic agents in developed countries, and identify the likely causes of sepsis in developing countries.

Discover the physiologic changes of pregnancy, how these changes mask signs of sepsis, and what clinical criteria may help identify sepsis in the obstetric patient
Identify common infections and their most likely etiologic agents in developed countries
