Aging is associated with increased inflammation following sepsis. Does aging effect the microbiome function and post-infection outcomes? This presentation will discuss some of the fundamental age-based differences in the host responses after bacterial and viral infections and will discuss whether these differences are primary or secondary to the increased mortality seen in aged hosts.
