Changing Face of Immune Response in Sepsis
Vidula Vachharajani, MD, FCCP, FCCM (she/her/hers)
Professor of Medicine
Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine

Within hours of onset of sepsis, the systemic inflammatory response transitions from a hyper-inflammatory to a persistent low grade pro-inflammatory or hypo-inflammatory and immunosuppressive phase. It is critically important to be aware of these transitions, since the therapeutic options in hyper-inflammatory phase is potentially very different from those during the low grade inflammatory and immunosuppressive phase. The speaker will discuss the evidence for change in immune response in sepsis.
Speaker: Dr. Vidula Vachharajani, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of CWRU is funded by NIH to study sepsis for over a decade. She has been at the forefront of the phase change (from hyper- to hypo-inflammation) during sepsis progression. She will discuss the laboratory and clinical evidence supporting the immune response transition during sepsis progression.
