Neurological injury during pediatric ECMO remains one of the most devastating consequences of this invasive care. Dr. Bembea is the PI of a prospective observational study associating biomarkers with neurological injury and long term outcomes of children who receive ECMO support. Identification of early markers of injury may be leveraged for early interventions to improve patient outcomes. She will describe the principles and progress of the NICHD funded BEAM study.
